Glass Manifestation

Make it visible.

For commercial windows, doors and glass panels.

Glass manifestation is a legal requirement, but with our design team’s help it can look like a design decision.

It is designed to be applied to glass windows, doors and partitions to stop people walking into the glass. Placing etched decals at strategic points on the glazing makes the glass clearly visible and prevents potential accidents and injuries.

Glass Manifestation is required by law, in workplace health & safety legislation, Building Regulations and as part of the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA).

What is glass manifestation and why do you have to have it?

It’s a building regulations requirement to make transparent glazing sufficiently visible that people are less likely to walk into it. The requirement K5.2 states that:

“Transparent glazing with which people are likely to come into contact while moving around in or about the building, shall incorporate features which make it apparent.”
What this means in practice is adding visual markers to any large, uninterrupted glass surfaces. The markers have to be permanent, and shown at two levels of the glass (between 850-1,000mm and 1,400-1,600mm above the floor).

The markers are required to contrast visually with the background, and to be visible from the inside and out in all lighting conditions. This is why frosted films are ideal for the job – they provide the required level of visibility and permanence, without compromising on the aesthetics.

They give a sandblasted, frosted look to windows and doors, and can be customised to suit your needs. From simple dots or squares, to a logo or branded design, your glass manifestation can meet all the legal requirements, whilst adding a stylish touch to your premises.

Types of customisation

Our standard etched glass window film is a premium frosted window film with a subtle colouring and slight sparkle finish. This gives it a realistic, frosted glass look, which allows up to 80% of natural light through.

Lighter and heavier opacities are also available, along with a range of colours.

Patterns

For subtle visual markers

Decorative window film comes in 16 ‘stock’ patterns ready to apply or chat to our design team who can come up with a custom design for you.

Text

For helpful direction

Double up on the functionality by adding notices to your glass, which also work as visual markers.

For added brand awareness

The best way to make your required decals part of your environment – whilst still serving their purpose – is to incorporate your branding into the design.

How to care for your window film after installation

Window film is very easy to look after and you can keep it clean with soapy water – no special products required!

Caring for printed films or films with cut-outs

Extra care must be taken when cleaning films which have been cut out and have exposed edges. Gently clean with a soft cloth only, and take particular care around the cut areas. Do not rub too hard or use a squeegee as it could damage the print or your cut film.

Wait to clean

Wait for at least 3 weeks before first cleaning your film

Design, supply + fit of custom frosted decals

10/07/21

“For building requirements on the construction project we were undertaking, Hagley Sports Pavilion, we required decals to be installed onto all the large glass panels.

The client didn’t want anything ‘off-the-shelf’, they wanted something modern that tied in with the Sport element of the building. So we asked Outpost Custom to design, supply and fit custom frosted decals.

The work was completed efficiently and professionally and Hagley Parish Council were delighted with the result.”

What makes us different?

All our customisations are designed by our in-house design team and put into production with our in-house customisers.

We believe that manufacturing should be kept local. We want to support businesses within our community whose income helps stimulate the local economy. We use local suppliers for a few of the services that we don’t currently produce in house – embroidery and PVC banners. We’ve worked with all our suppliers for years, and we trust them to produce products for our customers with the same dedication to the craft that we have. Everything gets quality checked by our production team and it’s all managed by us, which saves you the hassle of dealing with multiple companies, whilst still offering our customers excellent value for money.
